Our History

For 11 years Kelly worked for a parts company/ machine shop as a shop foreman. The machine shop, being one of the smallest in the area, quickly grew into one of the largest by far. The owners, not wanting to update or delve into the performance industry, were not providing services for a large clientele.

Kelly, realizing this, started to make plans of his own. After 11 years of service, he went into business for himself as Kelly’s Engine Service beginning as a 2 man operation. It took 6 months to outgrow his small building so a new building was purchased. Since then, after many purchases of new equipment and building additions, Kelly’s Engine Service is now one of the largest machine shops in this region.

We now and will always remain true to our roots by remanufacturing stock replacement engines on a custom and production basis. We perform machine shop operations on a daily custom basis such as boring cylinders, large and small, cylinder head remanufacturing and cylinder head repair, crank shaft grinding, line boring, engine balancing, and just about any other automotive machine shop operation you can imagine. We also turn brake drums, rotors, resurface flywheels, and all the machine shop operations that one might need. We are a full service automotive machine shop.

Our high performance racing engines are second to none. We have engines in late model dirt cars, street stock dirt cars and various other forms of dirt track competition, open wheel modified, UMP and IMCA, drag racing and street classes, NHRA and IHRA, pro modified, pro sportsman.

We do engines for pulling trucks and antique pulling tractors as well as big trucks and heavy duty diesel, agricultural and industrial. We do engine modifications for motorcycles and outboards. We have even done engines for performance airboats.
